LITTLETON, CO — The city of Littleton is working with a local construction company to upgrade a section of Mineral Avenue. Construction, which began Monday, is scheduled to last around three months, city officials said. Traffic delays can be expected on Mineral Avenue from Platte Canyon Road to the Platte River. During construction, Mineral Avenue will be reduced to one lane and left turns from side streets will be restricted. Work will begin in the eastbound lanes and then transition to the westbound lanes, the city said. "The concrete pavement of Mineral Avenue from the Platte River to Platte Canyon Road was installed in the late 1980s and some panels are experiencing failures along the joints," the city's project updates page read. "This project will remove and replace the critically damaged panels to ensure a smooth ride for vehicles and further extend the life of the pavement." "This will utilize the existing median to provide a two-stage crossing of Mineral Avenue and increase the visibility of crossing pedestrians to vehicles," the project overview read. Drivers are asked to obey all construction signage and closures. >> Learn more about the Mineral Avenue project here.
