AURORA, IL — A Wheaton man faces multiple felony charges in connection with five armed robberies that took place in Aurora in February and March. Police say Gregory Garner, 27, of the 200 block of East Union Avenue, may also be linked to armed robberies in Naperville and Downers Grove.
Garner was taken into custody Friday and charged with five counts of armed robbery, five counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Aurora police say Garner was arrested in connection with the following incidents, following the investigation of video surveillance, witness interviews and forensic evidence:
Feb. 22: For More Liquor, 100 block of South Broadway Street, Aurora, robbed at gunpoint by one suspect Feb. 23: For More Liquor, 100 block of South Broadway Street, Aurora, robbed by three suspects armed with two handguns and one knife Feb. 25: One Stop, 200 block of South Lake Street, Aurora, robbed by one suspect with a handgun March 1: 7-Eleven, 1600 block of Montgomery Road, Aurora, robbed by two suspects, one of whom displayed a handgun March 8: For More Liquor, 100 block of South Broadway Street, Aurora, robbed at gunpoint by one suspect Naperville Police Department spokesperson Commander Michaus Williams confirmed to Patch that Garner is being investigated in connection with armed robberies in Naperville, but did not provide additional details as of early Tuesday evening.
