Pedestrian Struck, Seriously Injured In Crash In The South Bay

TORRANCE, CA — A 57-year-old woman was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle in Torrance Tuesday morning, police said. A driver in a 1990 Hondo Civic was driving east on Torrance Boulevard and struck a pedestrian crossing southbound outside of a crosswalk near the intersection of Torrance Boulevard and Amie Avenue about 9:32 a.m., according to the Torrance Police Department. "Upon arrival, officers immediately located the pedestrian and, with a citizen's assistance, began life-saving measures that included CPR," police said. She was treated by Torrance Fire Department personnel and transported to a hospital in serious condition. The driver of the 1990 Honda was not injured, police said. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. "Investigators will conduct an extensive investigation to determine the details of this incident," police said. All Eastbound lanes of Torrance Boulevard from Hawthorne Boulevard will be temporarily closedduring this investigation, police said.
