We are seeking someone who has a strong work-ethic, is a self-starter, loves what they do and is motivated to share their knowledge and experience with those who they work with. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting in a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of Head Start buildings. This is accomplished by conducting equipment and mechanical evaluations, repairing and/or replacing building parts as necessary for preventative maintenance and proper building functioning, and assisting higher skilled trades personnel with repairs, troubleshooting, and cleanup. Supporting service requests and evaluating and documenting maintenance and costs. Check out the Head Start program here: Performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of Head Start buildings and grounds including: less complex carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting and heating and cooling systems repairs. Performs basic electrical installation and repair work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances; repairs lighting systems; inspects electrical systems for unsafe conditions. Performs basic rough and finished carpentry work in construction and repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, and selves. Performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; opens clogged lines and drains; replaces washers and other minor parts. Maintain grounds by conducting projects for grounds improvement, safety and order. May include: lawn mowing, weed control, seeding, and fertilizing. Maintains grounds including mowing, trimming, weeding, and other outdoor related tasks. Participates in performing snow and ice removal duties when required, as well as responding to building emergencies in the evening and weekends as needed. Responds to alarm calls during and after regular work hours; maintains clean, safe, and orderly sites. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma A minimum of one year of facilities maintenance, general maintenance, or similar Additional Information: Please note that offer of employment contingent on criminal history, motor vehicle record checks, and education verification. Must have a valid driver's license; if you are from out of state, you must have a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date, and you must not have any major violations or DUI, DWI, DWAI convictions. Background check required. Drug screening required. Jefferson County is a tobacco-free work environment. As of February 3, 2020, smoking and the use of tobacco products will not be permitted on Jefferson County Government properties except in select, marked Designated Tobacco Use Areas (DTUA) and private vehicles.
