Woman Killed In 210 Freeway Crash Identified As Glendora Resident

GLENDORA, CA — Authorities have identified the woman who was struck and killed on the 210 Freeway in Glendora early Monday morning. The Los Angeles County medical examiner's office identified Kayla Cummings, 32, of Glendora, as the pedestrian who died after being struck by the trailer of a big rig while walking on the westbound 210 Freeway east of Glendora Avenue. No further information has been released by authorities about Cummings and an official cause of death has not yet been determined by the medical examiner's office. Cummings was seen walking along the right shoulder of the freeway when she wandered into the path of an oncoming big rig around 12:50 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol. The driver of the truck attempted to swerve out of the way but the vehicle's trailer ended up striking her. She was pronounced dead at the scene and authorities closed the freeway for several hours for their investigations. It's unknown why Cummings was on the freeway.
