GRAYSLAKE, IL — After more than 76,000 shots in arms, the mass vaccination site at the Lake County Fairgrounds officially closed Monday evening. The county will now shift its focus to vaccinating the public at the hyper-local level. For people who still need a COVID-19 shot, they can find them at the Lake County Health Department Community Health Centers, doctor's offices throughout the county as well as area pharmacy and retail locations. "Every Lake County resident lives within three miles of a COVID-19 vaccination provider and the options are plentiful," said Mark Pfister, Executive Director of the Lake County Health Department. Pfister added that the county is looking into putting mobile units in neighborhoods, faith communities and even businesses to vaccinate people where it is most convenient for them.
