BERKELEY, CA — Authorities are asking for the public's help in their investigation of a hit-and-run collision Monday night that involved a pedestrian, the Berkeley Police Department said. The victim, identified as a 50-year-old man, was hospitalized with serious injuries, police said. The incident was reported at around 9:35 p.m. on Telegraph Avenue between Webster Street and Ashby Avenue, police said. According to witnesses, a man in crisis laying down in the roadway on Telegraph Avenue when he struck by a vehicle traveling northbound, police said. The vehicle left the scene according to police. The involved vehicle is described as lowered, dark-colored, mid 1990's sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima, with tinted windows. The vehicle was last seen driving northbound into Berkeley. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Berkeley Police Department Traffic Unit at (510) 981-5980. Those with video surveillance cameras in the area that may have recorded the involved vehicle are also asked contact the Traffic Unit with their information.
