Help Determine The Future Of Coventry PEACE Park

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH —The Heights Libraries is looking for public input on the future of PEACE Park. The library recently contracted with landscape architects Andrew Sargeant and Jim McKnight, for $9,000 each, to prepare sketches and develop an overall plan for the park, including cost estimates. They will also be gathering public input about the park during three separate public events. "Our PEACE Park is popular, and well loved, so we're hoping we get plenty of input from our community so we can improve it and make it an even better public asset for all," said Heights Libraries Director Nancy Levin. The first event is June 27, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the PEACE Park. Called the Coventry PEACE Park Design Jam, the event will feature five stations where community members can engage in activities that will help McKnight and Sargeant determine what the community wants from the space. Refreshments will be served. The five stations are: Predict Your Park: Take an interactive survey Share a Story: Share your park memories Mark the Map: Show us your favorite places Find Your Favorites: Rate our ideas Picture a Park: Kids can create their dream park The second event on the park's future will be held July 24, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.. The Coventry Village library branch will play host, with Sargeant and McKnight displaying preliminary design proposals and answering questions from the community about potential designs. The third event will take place Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. Both landscape architects will present their final plans for the park, including costs. Plans could include an accessible playground, a walking storybook loop, an amphitheater, and outdoor seating areas. The Fund for the Future of Heights Libraries will handle fundraising for the project, library officials said.
