Description

NORTHPORT, AL — Motorists on Rose Boulevard near the entrance to Tuscaloosa County High School can expect some slight delays as work moves forward on a new access road and lane-widening before the fall semester begins at the new Northport Intermediate School. The design was approved unanimously in March, as Patch previously reported, and will be aimed at alleviating traffic funneling in and out of Northport Elementary School and the soon-to-be opened Intermediate School, which will be in close proximity to Tuscaloosa County High School. The design approved by the school board on Monday will widen Frankie Thomas Trace, coming from Rose Boulevard, which will remove the need for an added connection behind Northport Elementary School. The right turn lane from Rose Boulevard will also be widened, helping traffic better feed into the school zone. Work is expected to be completed by the time students return for classes in August.
