Shooting In Ensley Kills 43-Year-Old Birmingham Man

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The second deadly shooting in three days in Birmingham's Ensley community claimed the life of a 43-year-old Birmingham man. The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. in the 1500 block of 29th Street. Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the victim, identified as Anthony Jackson, Jr.,was inside of his truck when a suspect driving a silver SUV fired several times striking the victim. Mauldin said detectives believe Jackson was targeted. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival. Anyone who has information pertaining to the case is asked to contact the Birmingham PD Homicide Unit at 205-254-1764. A shooting Sunday in Ensley also resulted in a fatality, after two people were shot at the intersection of Avenue V at Warrior Road.
