Oakwood School is a K-12 coeducational day school in North Hollywood, California that opened its doors in 1951. We are currently looking to add another Groundskeeper to our team. We are looking for candidates who can work independently, take pride in their work and who will take initiatives that will ensure that our beautiful campus looks its best at all times. POSITION SUMMARY Under supervision this position performs as a Groundskeeper and general maintenance worker. Functions include, but are not limited to, litter pick-up, cultivating, trimming of shrubs and small trees, fertilizing, planting, and irrigation repairs. Maintains the property's flowerbeds, plants, and lawns. Lays out and tends to flower beds, seasonal plantings or other decorative vegetation. Knowledge in seasonal plants and design of flower beds. Operates ground power tools and machinery. Knowledge of proper gardening techniques and ornamental plant materials. Experience operating grounds related equipment, i.e. mowers, edger’s. QUALIFICATIONS Ability to work under minimal supervision. Knowledge of plants, ornamental species, weeds and other undesirable plant species. Knowledge and skill to operate commonly used grounds equipment and tools. Knowledge of basic needs of plants to maintain them in a live and healthy state. Skill in operating trenchers, tractors, roto-tillers and other commonly used larger pieces of power driven grounds equipment. Knowledge and ability to maintain automatic sprinkler systems and controllers and PVC piping. Ability to be flexible and constantly adjust to changing priorities. Ability to follow through and carry out assignments. Problem-solving skills and sound judgement. Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing and electronically. Ability to understand and apply School and Departmental policies and procedures. Must be physically able to consistently perform job duties. Valid California driver’s license.
