Stump City Soul is seeking a keyboardist/backing vocalist. We are a large band (5 horns, 11 members), with occasional smaller configurations. Gigs are 1-3/month, typically on weekends, nearly always paid. Some corporate gigs/weddings, some bars and parties. Here's the unique part: We're back into a full gigging calendar, and we need to keep momentum - so this role would be working with the existing keyboardist to get acquainted with the catalog (~6 hours of tunes total, but only 2 per show). Defining this "working with" is up to you, depending on the comfort level - it can be rehearsal-only or split roles at gigs if desired. He's willing to consult on every tune during wood-shedding, etc. Vocal parts are mid-to-high tenor harmony parts, in a group arrangement. A good powerful voice and keen ear is desired. There are 2 lead singers and 2 backing vocalists; this role is for one of the backing vocalists. The catalog is pop/soul/funk covers with custom arrangements and occasional requests. There are sheets for every tune, and we can record anything necessary. Stevie Wonder, Little Richard, Earth Wind & Fire, The Ohio Players, Rolling Stones, Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, Breakstra, etc. Tones cover the standards: Piano, EP, Hammond, a few synth tones. There is a keyboard with all patches programmed-in available if necessary. The band is centered in the Portland Metro area, gigs cover a wide array of venues: the coast, the cascades, wine country & local bars. Rehearsals are Tues evenings 6-9 in Sellwood, some flexibility there. No age, gender restrictions - all encouraged to apply. LGBT+ friendly. Email with playing history, availability.
