These knowledgeable stewards of the environment mow, plant, water, fertilize, aerate, weed, and more to help lawns flourish in residential and corporate settings. Becoming a lawn care technician is an excellent career choice for those who enjoy working independently outdoors in varying weather conditions, like establishing the pace of their work, seeing the results of their efforts, and embrace the opportunity to interface with customers.ResponsibilitiesPerforms landscape maintenance duties such as mowing, fertilizer application, weed control, aeration, spring clean-up, fall clean-up, trimming, and pruningOperates a variety of mechanical equipment including but not limited to bed edgers, commercial mowers, blowers, dump trailers, chainsaws, line trimmersPerforms landscape enhancement activities such as mulch application, plantings, top soil applicationAddresses clients' questions, comments, and concerns or refers clients to the Team Leader as appropriateAssists Team Leader with route and job planning and organization, thereby ensuring sufficient resources and materials are readily availableAssists with equipment maintenance and repair under supervision of the Team LeaderApplies chemicals under the direction of a licensed applicator, and with all required protective equipmentPerforms other duties as requiredTrim and prune shrubs and small treesWork with and report to a direct foremanBe open to receiving training for field needs, technique, equipment, etc.Run smooth operations, punctuality, safety, and quality controlPerform maintenance and landscape tasks for the clientDeliver work according to the contract specificationsEnsure proper use of ergonomic practices, personal protective and safety equipmentCommunicate customer opportunities immediately with the account representativesReport all sales opportunitiesPlan and prepare for the next day’s work every eveningLoading/unloading materials and equipmentReport broken or damaged equipment to management immediatelyFollow the company’s employee handbook strictly.
