Community Compost Company is a food scrap collection and recycling service based in the Hudson Valley of NY. We are a leader in the region for composting and are pioneering organics recycling programs in communities to keep food scraps out of the waste stream. The food scraps we collect are brought to our farm site or other and made into compost, which restores organic content to depleted soils. The compost we produce is sold through our brand Hudson Soil Company. We are seeking a reliable, flexible, and environmentally-minded person to fill one of our compost collector positions. This job is approximately 15-20 hours a week, but could increase in hours based on expansion of route or need for coverage. CCC is a growing company in the emerging industry of organics recycling. About the Job: -Drive a transit van or truck to perform residential and commercial door-to-door food scrap collection in the Hudson Valley -Haul food waste from our Hoboken location to our farm in the Hudson Valley 1x/week in a non-CDL dump truck -Wash compost bins, clean, organize, and ensure equipment is labeled and in good condition -Access and use our database through a provided mobile device to enter weights and other information during collection -Remove contamination of food waste dropped -Routinely check and maintain compost vehicles (gas, oil, water, fluids, tire pressure) -Maintain clean collection vehicles and remove trash and personal items from collection vehicles after each route Requirements: -Valid Driver's License -Clean driving record (we will preform a background check) -Experience driving commercial vehicles such as non-CDL box truck, dump truck, garbage truck, or other large vehicles -Comfort driving trucks safely in rural and urban environments -Ability to pass DOT physical exam -Ability to lift 50 pounds, maneuver wheeled bins of compost weighing up to 250 lbs. and be outside in all weather conditions (we operate year round) -Be on time and show up when expected -Good problem solver with personal initiative -Passion for being part of a team; experience on teams Preferences: -Interest in environmental stewardship and composting, or the desire to learn more about these topics -Experience on a delivery route is a plus -Familiarity with DOT safety regulations is a plus -Comfort with some technology - Tablets, Excel, Google Documents -Experience operating farm equipment preferred (tractor and skid steer) -Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of vehicle maintenance To Apply: Send a copy of your resume, a brief note describing your interest, and 2 professional references.
