Celebrate 18! is a state-wide birthday party for 100 girls turning 18 or 19 and are aging out or have aged out of the foster care system. At Celebrate 18! each honoree has an opportunity to choose a fashion makeover — hair style, makeup, manicure, and a new outfit as well as interact with employers, schools, training centers and social service organizations offering guidance and information. Throughout the room are mentors, available to connect with the girls, as well as foster care alum and representatives from various careers and professions ready to share their experiences. The day ends with a catered dinner and testimonies from foster alum sharing their experience of aging out of the system.
