Tuba Skinny Live at Sylvester Manor Formed in in 2009, Tuba Skinny has steadily evolved from a loose collection of street musicians into a solid ensemble dedicated to bringing the traditional New Orleans sound to audiences around the world. Drawing on a wide range of musical influences—from spirituals to Depression-era blues, from ragtime to traditional jazz—their sound evokes the rich musical heritage of their New Orleans home. The band has gained a loyal following through their distinctive sound, their commitment to reviving long-lost songs, and their barnstorming live performances. This program is partially funded by the County of Suffolk. About our Creekside Concerts: Sylvester Manor Creekside Concerts are rain or shine outdoor events so bring a beach chair or blanket. Camp chairs are also welcome but must sit toward the back to not block the view of your fellow concertgoers. Gates will open at 4:30 pm. You are welcome to bring your own food and drink to picnic or you can purchase something delicious from On the Road Food Truck. Wine and beer will also be available for purchase. All CDC and Department of Health COVID-19 guidelines at the time of the concert will be followed. Insect and tick repellent are suggested. Sylvester Manor, Shelter Island’s 1652 homestead, has embarked on a new era as a nonprofit organic farm, historic plantation and vibrant arts and education center, with programs open to all.
