Walk with us to evaluate Old Deer Park Avenue, provide a community perspective and help us
identify ways to improve the corridor.
The Town of Babylon plans to economically revitalize the Old Deer Park Avenue corridor, between Strathmore Drive and Sunrise Highway, and make it attractive and safe for residents, patrons, and business owners. The Town wants to evaluate and improve the corridor's walkability and would like to gather community input on the walkability conditions, and potential improvements.
The audit will start with a brief introduction to the walk audit process, and role of the walk audit participants at the North Babylon High School Parking Lot. It will entail walking about 1.5 miles and observing the condition of sidewalks, crosswalks, and streetscape; overall walking experience; and driver behavior. We will make stops at several locations along the route to discuss observations and gather additional ideas from participants. This is an outdoor event, so please be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Come and enjoy the Walk!
