Description

Indy organizations are teaming up to organize a Rain Garden Workshop along Fall Creek waterway. Join Reconnecting to Our Waterways (ROW) and Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District for an exciting workshop for Indy residents. Learn about water conservation and sustainable stormwater management with green infrastructure at your home. Space limited to 25 Marion County residents for each workshop. Registration required and limited to 2 people per household. June 24 - Rain Garden Workshop - 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. - Indiana State Fairgrounds Indy residents living along Fall Creek will be able to learn the benefits of and how to build your own rain garden in your yard to help manage stormwater and clean up the water going into our waterways and aquifers. Working with experts from Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District, up to 25 Marion County residents will receive step-by-step instructions on building a simple rain garden, and even take home several native plants from Indy Urban Acres to get a rain garden started. NOTE: Attendees who want plants must transport them immediately following the event. Workshops to improve our waterways are made possible through a generous grant from Indiana State Department of Agriculture's Clean Water Indiana grant program. Reconnecting to Our Waterways (ROW) is a collective impact initiative that has worked purposefully since 2012 to change the quality of life and ecology along Indianapolis waterways and surrounding neighborhoods. ROW has been able to convene community partners to enhance quality of life through innovation, analysis, cultural advancement and investment along Indy waterways and neighborhoods. We have walked alongside communities to discover and celebrate Indy’s waterways as a community asset.
