This class covers basic blocks, strikes, pressure points, and verbal de-escalation. All participants will receive a resource kit. WHAT YOU LEARN: 1- Verbal skills: Using your voice as a self-defense tool for stopping an attack or abuse before it becomes physical.2- Physical self-defense techniques: Students learn simple effective strikes and techniques to use when non-physical strategies are not an option.3- Bystander intervention: stepping up and helping someone experiencing any kind of gender or hate based violence.______________________ Our trainers are all MALIKAH certified and have years of global experience. Our expert black-belt instructors compiled a curriculum derived from various martial arts styles, built specifically for a modern day woman. We teach techniques centered on de-escalation- techniques that allow you to leverage the power of your own body and voice so that you can feel safe. All of our classes cover basic blocks, strikes, pressure points and verbal de-escalation. Our higher level classes teach on the ground grappling and combination strikes and blocks. All of our courses are designed to maximize your muscle memory and play to your personal strengths. All of our self-defense classes end with a healing space because we believe that empowerment starts with the heart. ______________________ A training of Malikah, by Malikah instructor, Haleema Bharoocha. Malikah is a grassroots movement that facilitates opportunities for women to come together in sisterhood, to engage in critical reflection and education, to build habits of self-love, and to cultivate action-oriented communities prepared with the tools and skills to clap-back. ______________________ Proceeds from this event will go towards supporting the One World Barbell Club team for their trip to compete at the USA Weightlifting Open. Haleema will be competing in this national event. Help send a Muslim woman to the USA Weightlifting Open.
