Funny Girl Presented by the Sun Valley Opera ALL AGES Sun Valley Opera presents the magnificent 1968 film starring Barbra Streisand. Tickets on sale Tuesday June 15 at 12pm Join us on the Sun Valley Pavilion lawn for the Sun Valley Opera's presentation of the film classic Funny Girl. One of the most popular movie musicals ever made, Funny Girl follows the early career of stage comedienne Fanny Brice – a role that earned Barbra Streisand the 1968 Oscar for Best Actress. Also starring Omar Sharif, Kay Medford, Anne Francis, Walter Pidgeon, Lee Allen, and Mae Questel. As the film opens, only her mother believes Fanny can make it in show business. When she gets her first break at Keeney’s Music Hall, her hilarious debut as a roller-skating chorus girl gets her hired as a comedienne. A year later Fanny is working for Florenz Ziegfield in his famous Follies and brings the house down with an outrageous and unplanned number. Fanny becomes a star, falls in love and marries Nick Arnstein (Omar Sharif), a handsome gambler whose luck doesn’t hold up. The film’s many memorable songs include “Don’t Rain on My Parade” and the Streisand classic “People.” This event is general admission so you may choose your spot on the lawn. Social distancing is still required, so please allow for plenty room between your party and other guests. Masks are not required, but are strongly recommended for unvaccinated guests when moving about the area. Bring your own low backed chair and picnic. Food and drinks are allowed at the event. For the comfort, health, and safety of all guests and staff, Sun Valley Opera and the Sun Valley Resort ask that you follow the guidelines outlined below. By reserving a space on the Sun Valley Pavilion Lawn you agree to follow the guidelines: DO NOT attend the performance if you or anyone in your party are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms including: cough, fever, muscle pain, and/or loss of taste or smell. Masks are not required but are strongly recommended for unvaccinated guests when moving around the lawn. Please maintain a minimum six-foot distance at all times from people who are not in your party. Please allow extra time to enter and exit in order to maintain social distancing. No dogs allowed. We love pets, but due to safety concerns we ask that they please stay home this year.
