Join us as we celebrate and honor the Celebrity Club - New England's first integrated nightclub. Join us at the Providence Marriott on Sunday, June 27th, as we celebrate and honor The Celebrity Club - New England's first integrated nightclub. There will be music and memories shared from Celebrity Club patrons and musicians as we rededicate the roadside marker that honors the vision and courage of Paul Filippi, the club owner. The plaque also commemorates and identifies the location of this important and historic venue in Providence, Rhode Island. After the program, we will gather at the site of the new marker (on Charles Street – across the street from the Marriott) for the unveiling. Parking for the unveiling is available in the Moshassuck Medical Center parking lot. Our primary mission is the preservation of African Diaspora descendant’s historical artifacts – books, art, papers and images, as well as facilitating the interpretation efforts by those seeking to enlighten others about our heritage.
