PEABODY, MA — Drivers who typically use Exits 63 and 63B on Interstate 95 will have to go a bit out of their way late Tuesday night when the exits are closed for roadway and pavement repairs at Route 1.
Exit 63 on I-95 southbound (the old Exit 44) and Exit 63B on I-95 northbound (the old Exit 44B) on the Lynnfield/Peabody line will close at 10 a.m. and are scheduled to reopen at 4 a.m. on Wednesday.
Traffic on I-95 southbound will be detoured to the Route 1 northbound ramp, continuing to the Lowell Street exit to reverse direction onto Route 1 southbound and back to the highway.
Traffic on I-95 northbound will be detoured to Route 1 northbound, continuing to the Lowell Street exit to reverse direction onto Route 1 southbound back to the highway.
This work is part of an $11 million pavement improvement project along Route 1. The project is currently expected to be completed in May of 2023.
Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect some delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
