Description

This training covers the initial health & safety topics for new providers and staff required by MO Children's Division. Provides child care providers and staff with the federally mandated trainings required by Children's Division to register or contract with DSS to receive CCDF child care subsidy payments. This covers the initial training topics for new providers and staff (EXCEPT First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Topics include: -Prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Safe Sleeping (NOTE: Does not meet DHSS Safe Sleep requirement) -Prevention of Shaken Baby Syndrome and Abusive Head Trauma -Emergency Disaster and Response -Mandatory Child Abuse and Neglect (CA/N) Reporting -Prevention and Control of infectious diseases (including immunizations) -Administration of medication, consistent with standards for parental consent -Prevention and Response to Food Allergy Emergencies -Building and Physical Premises Safety; including identification of and protection from hazards that can cause bodily injury -Handling and storage of hazardous materials and the appropriate disposal of bio-contaminants -Transportation of Children The purpose of the Educare program is to improve the quality of child care and early learning programs. Educare provides resources, technical assistance, and training opportunities to child care providers who care for children receiving Child Care Subsidy, with an emphasis on family home providers. Resources and trainings are free. Educare funding is provided by the Missouri Department of Social Services, Children's Division, Early Childhood Section.The Mid-America Regional Council administors the Educare program in Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray counties in partnership with the Local Investment Commission, The Family Conservancy, MCC-Penn Valley and Start at Zero.
