"Soulin' on the River" is a sample of the new sound of Memphis soul.
SOULIN' ON THE RIVER summer concert series [powered by Memphis River Parks Partnership, Memphis Civic Commons & Memphis Slim Collaboratory]
With the mighty Mississippi River as the backdrop for most of the concerts and the added bonus of the Memphis cityscape for others, "Soulin' on the River" is a sample of the new sound of Memphis soul featuring five great bands June-August in The Grove on Mud Island, Renaissance Park (South Memphis), The Heights (Treadwell) and Overton Park (Midtown)!
FEATURED ARTIST: Cameron Bethany
Cameron Bethany cherishes music like a childhood wonder stashed in a treasure box hidden somewhere between a voice trained in the church, a heart pained by repression, and a soul straining to fly free. The youngest male scion of a pastor’s family, Cameron carried expectations he could only hope to meet. Finally accepting the lack of acceptance, Cameron began his own journey in music, faith, and romance. His hard- fought individualism–more reluctant than rebellious–appears in his signature vocal styling, where he harmonizes layers of his oh-so-sweet voice in instrumental exultation. At times wordless, he leaves you breathless, as if he’d unearthed your own lock box and released the buried emotions to the ethers for all to know.
