SOULIN' ON THE RIVER summer concert series [powered by Memphis River Parks Partnership, Memphis Civic Commons & Memphis Slim Collaboratory] With the mighty Mississippi River as the backdrop for most of the concerts and the added bonus of the Memphis cityscape for others, "Soulin' on the River" is a sample of the new sound of Memphis soul featuring five great bands June-August in The Grove on Mud Island, Renaissance Park (South Memphis), The Heights (Treadwell) and Overton Park (Midtown)! FEATURED ARTIST: Tonya Dyson Tonya Dyson is the real deal in the revival movement and the new soul underground seamlessly blending gospel, jazz, and R&B into a promising attempt to reboot Memphis' soul legacy. FREE ADMISSION Things you need to know... •Gates open at 6pm. •Music starts at 7pm. •Family-friendly. •Lawnchairs, blankets, picnic baskets, and coolers are welcome! •Park Downtown and ride a bike/scooter over the river OR the paid parking lot on Mud Island! •ADA accessible parking available on Mud Island. The house across the street from the Stax Museum has now been redeveloped & re-imagined as a place for artists to gather, rehearse, learn, & create.
