Position Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the upkeep and repairs of Argosy vessels and facilities and oversees the maintenance of the Tillicum Longhouse facility. Duties support ongoing operations by having proven skills in mechanical thinking, solving problems, and task management. This position will be responsible for ensuring a clean, safe & functional destination on Blake Island for our employees and our guests. Essential Job Functions: Blake Island • Regular Inspection and Maintenance of Safety & Fire Equipment (i.e. Sprinkler System, Fire Extinguishers, Fire Pump, First Aid Kits, AEDs, Lighting etc.) • Coordinate with outside vendors & contractors for repairs, new construction an modification to the facility • Coordinate with regulatory bodies to ensure the kitchens, bars, and facility adhere to Local, State and Federal regulations • Inventory, Inspect & Maintain Company Assets & Equipment, including but not limited to Landscaping Tools & Equipment, Kitchen Systems & Equipment, Bar Systems & Equipment • Regularly Scheduled Landscaping & Cleaning Projects including Lawnmowing, Mulching, Window Cleaning, and other tasks as required • Execution of Minor repairs to company equipment and facility assets as required • Assist General Manager of Blake Island Operation in the planning and execution of facilities improvements, repairs and construction, coordinating with outside vendors as required • Assist General Manager of Blake Island Operations in the development of a Facilities Maintenance Program for the Tillicum Longhouse and its various outbuildings Argosy Vessels and other Argosy Facilities • Responsible for projects assigned from start to finish – • Responsible for assessing shop duties board, personal duty list, and engineering channel daily. • Prioritizes duty list by reviewing the Vessel Schedule via Fareharbor for time frames to complete tasks. • Assists in maintaining, repairing, modifying engines, generators, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, bar equipment, docks, restrooms/sanitation systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems, office machines, and other equipment/facilities as assigned. • Responsible for troubleshooting and assessing mechanical problems for issues on board the boats and facilities. • Responsible for adhering to all Argosy & OSHA/WISHA safety knowledge, practice & procedures by reading and updating self of Maintenance Safety Manual. • Responsible for assessing conditions and damage to fleet and facilities and reporting issues to management. • Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements and Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent • Ability to speak, read, and write in clear English – communicate with others using English • Ability to competently perform basic math functions • One to Two Years’ experience in Mechanical repair or engine maintenance • One to Three Years’ experience in building maintenance, shipyard maintenance, or Construction Industry • A current TWIC (Transportation Worker’s Identity Credential) card or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire • Pass a pre-employment drug test • Understanding of basic Facilities Systems, including Fire Suppression, HVAC, plumbing and Electrical • Knowledge of basic Mechanical Systems and their maintenance • Basic Understanding of Local, State and Federal regulations governing Facilities & Safety • Ability to take direction and work calmly and effectively under pressure • Must have problem-solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organized Working Conditions • This position will spend 75 percent of the time standing and 25 percent of the time sitting • Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat and water during transportation to Blake Island, as well as during repairs & maintenance operations • The individual must be able to lift and transport up to 60 lbs. regularly and up to 70 lbs on occasion • Must be able to push and maneuver heavy equipment including Genie Lifts, Lawnmowers, pressure washers etc. • Must be able to hear with 100 percent accuracy with correction • Must be able to see 20/20 vision with correction • Must be able to stoop and crouch around small spaces
