Princeton U. Will Require Employees To Get COVID Vaccine

PRINCETON, NJ – Princeton University will now require all employees to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination ahead of the fall semester, according to a recent announcement. All employees, including faculty, appointed visiting faculty and researchers, temporary employees and independent contractors must receive their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine no later than Aug.1, the University said. "The requirement applies to employees and others routinely working on campus or in property occupied by the University," the announcement said. This announcement follows the University's earlier vaccine requirement for all undergraduate and graduate students. Employees who cannot receive the vaccine due to a "disability, medical contraindication or sincerely-held religious belief," may request an exemption, said the University. "Employees who are not vaccinated and do not qualify for an accommodation must consult with their manager and Human Resources or the Office of the Dean of the Faculty to determine if a period of leave or use of accrued paid time off may be applied," the University said in the announcement. "Working remotely is not an approved option under this policy." Princeton University also updated its COVID-19 guidelines for the summer to align with state and federal guidelines. For the fall semester, Princeton plans to resume in-person instruction and operation. All classes are expected to be taught in-person and all remote work is anticipated to end by Aug. 29. "All activities will continue to follow then-prevailing public health protocols, but the expectation is that all University facilities, including administrative and research spaces, will operate at full capacity," the University said.
