59 New Officers Graduate From Monmouth Co. Police Academy

MONMOUTH COUNTY - Upon graduation from the Monmouth County Police Academy, 59 newly sworn law enforcement officers were recently presented with certifications during a ceremony at Brookdale Community College, officials announced. The June 11 ceremony honored 15 recruits of the 100th Basic Course for Police Officers and 44 recruits from the 51st Basic Course for Class II Special Law Enforcement Officers. Both classes consisted of 20 weeks with 780 hours of training, with all recruits educated in patrol concepts, defensive driving, professional development, weapons and unarmed defense, criminal investigation, ethics, emergency medical care and physical training. "These fine men and women demonstrated their commitment to law enforcement by persevering and successfully completing this intense training amid the challenges they had to meet as a result of the pandemic," said Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden. "Becoming a member of law enforcement is a great privilege, since there is no higher responsibility than maintaining public safety. I'm proud of their accomplishments and commend all for a job well done." Upon successful completion of the police training commission approved curriculum, the officers are well prepared to serve their respective law enforcement agencies. "We welcome our newest police academy graduates to our law enforcement family," said Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey. "We hope that they will use the skills that they have learned to serve their communities with honor and distinction, understanding that they have a tremendous responsibility to serve all of their residents, protect our victims, and earn the trust of the residents that they will be serving. Our graduates are choosing public service at a challenging time and we know that their moral compasses will always point north." "These selfless men and women have committed their professional lives to serving in public safety and I applaud them," said Commissioner Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office and member of the Police Academy Board of Directors. "Their extensive training and personal character leave them well-prepared for a career in law enforcement and we are truly grateful for their efforts." The next Monmouth County Police Academy recruit class will begin in August.
