NPS has partnered with CBI to provide crew members with special skills training and offers future opportunities for a possible path into Federal service. For career advancement, individuals who meet NPS specific requirements may be eligible to apply for entry level positions such as NPS Maintenance Worker, and NPS Internships. ************** This CBI Crew program offers unique environmental and cultural opportunities for Native American youth to work, learn, and grow in some of the most distinctive landscapes in the Southwest. Young people will engage in meaningful work experiences in the national parks while developing an ethic of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility. ************* CBI crew will be working on projects designed around natural park restoration, conservation, construction, or rehabilitation of natural, cultural, historic, archaeological, recreational, or scenic resources. The workplace will promote opportunities to develop and advance underrepresented groups in this remote area through on-the-job training, and self-development sessions. Incumbent must be willing to participate in formal and informal training as assigned throughout their employment period. Each CBI crew member must be self-motivated and enjoy being part of a cohesive team to accomplish, at times, difficult physical tasks in remote areas of these parks. Due to the remoteness of the daily work, crew members will be required to camp overnight on site and expected to contribute to the overall positive experience for the team. The NPS Project Coordinator will direct tasks by coordinating with CBI Site Foreman and Crew Leaders at park worksites to direct work performed to ensure the needs of participating members are being met while completing the objectives of the work project. **NEEDED** Eight (8) crew member positions and two (2) crew leader positions are open with Capacity Builders, Inc. (CBI) to perform work in the National Park Service (NPS) Southern Four Corners Group (SOFO) in two designated parks listed below. The CBI crew will work together for eight (8) weeks as one cohesive team to accomplish objectives as outlined by the NPS staff at each park site. The primary purpose of this crew is to assist NPS tradesmen in all areas of trails maintenance, routine painting, carpentry, rock wall building, janitorial, cleaning, grounds keeping, and other tasks as assigned. The crew team will camp for extended periods of time at the park to complete project objectives and will be supervised by CBI Site Foreman and NPS staff. **REQUIREMENTS** -Citizen or national of the US -A High School Diploma or GED -Youth and young adults between the ages of 18-27 years old. -Willingness for a Federal Background Check as required by NPS and CBI -Willingness for a drug and alcohol test at hiring and random testing during employment as required by CBI -Clean driving record, Driving Record Check, as required by CBI and NPS -Cannot be Civil Service Federal employees in application process or during Seasonal Internship -Must have reliable transportation to travel to work sites and other designated regional locations including to Farmington, NM if needed.
