Description

Join us on International Surfing Day to celebrate the joy that the beach and waves offer all of us! Clean the Beach - Preserve the Surf - Celebrate Lorain Surfing is an amazing gift - our beaches and waves are incredible natural resources that should be cared for, accessible to all people, and embraced as a critical part of the community. As surfers and beachgoers alike, it is our responsibility to protect what we love for the enjoyment of ourselves and the broader community, and for future generations. Please join us to come together and celebrate a premier surf spot in our region - Spitzer - which is threatened by an Army Corps project that, if built in this location, would destroy the wave. Bring your boards, bring yourself, and bring your aloha spirit to this family-friendly community event. Attendee notes: Please bring water in your reusable water bottle. Snacks, a 5 gallon water jug for refills, and hand sanitizer will be on-hand, as will beach cleanup supplies. Please do not attend if you are experiencing symptoms of illness. Masks and distancing are supported. Run of Event: 10am arrival 10:15am welcome and beach cleanup 11am to 12pm hang out, get in the water, enjoy the beach During the noon hour, attendees are invited to migrate to Union Town Provisions to lunch together and show a local business some love (lunch is self-pay).
