ROAM & RUMMAGE live performances by Emily and Ivory, Ben Gage, and Sam Hooper Duo ALL AGES ROAM & RUMMAGE AT THE GROG SHOP with live performances by Emily and Ivory, Ben Gage, and Sam Hooper Duo ROAM & RUMMAGE AT THE GROG SHOP SATURDAY JUNE 26TH FROM 1:00 to 5:30 pm FREE INSIDE AND IN THE COURTYARD (Weather Pending) LIVE MUSIC, GEAR FOR SALE, FRIENDS, FUN ROOTS OF AMERICN MUSIC (ROAM) will be selling guitars, banjos, amplifiers and more at ridiculously low “everything most go” low prices. Local vendors will be set up inside and outside in the courtyard selling music related items. All proceeds will benefit ROAM’s music education and outreach programs ROAM was created in 1999 to provide arts programming to the community using traditional American music as a way to connect students to our past. Today ROAM provides arts-integrated programs to diverse communities while promoting and preserving traditional American music -- old-time country, folk, gospel, blues, and early rock -- to enhance educational outcomes and enrich people's lives. ROAM’s programs use traditional American music to help individuals of all ages and backgrounds meet wider goals in education or personal development. Literacy, math, science, self-determination, tolerance, and music enrichment are some of the themes ROAM teaching artists incorporate into music workshops and residencies. EDUCATE, CREATE, FACILITATE ROAM assists community partners to reach those they serve with music that touches the heart of who we are, through song writing, teaching performance skills and assemblies. ROAM educates people students, disabled adults, and seniors—about the roots of American music: gospel, blues, jazz, early rock, and gives them an outlet to experience and perform that music together. ROAM trains educators to incorporate music and song writing into their classrooms to bring academic subjects such as reading, social studies, science, and physical education (healthy living) to life. And always, through public concerts, ROAM brings a sense of joy through the experience of music in everyday life. OUR MISSION ROAM provides arts education, musical performances and playing opportunities for audiences and musicians of all ages, means and abilities while supporting the preservation of American music and its roots. EMILY AND IVORY Formed in 2015, Emily & Ivory first came together as a casual collaboration between friends, but soon developed into a singular drive to create music of lasting beauty. Drawing on the shared influences of Americana, folk, rock, and gospel the members of Emily & Ivory create a sound that is layered with harmonies and a heartfelt exploration of the world around them. BEN GAGE Collecting Stories. Singing Songs. Staying Present. For me, nothing captures a moment the way a song can. I have always struggled to live in the moment, itching to get to the next “thing”, but a song stops me in my tracks. It demands attention and will fall to pieces without it. Songs are my anchors to the now. SAM HOOPER Sam Hooper is a captivating American musician from Cleveland, Ohio. His alluring blend of blues, rock, jazz and funk has thrilled audiences in China, Switzerland, Finland, Japan and the USA. His soulful vocals have been compared to Otis Redding, while critics have likened his blistering guitar playing to Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana. The Grog Shop opened in September of 1992 in the Coventry Rd. neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. Though expanded in size when moved to it’s current location in 2003, the club maintains the intimacy and raw character it has always been known for. We have a full bar with an extensive list of micro-brews, imports, and domestic beer, and of course plenty of liquor.
