JAZZ FEST at The Venue Featuring: DOSH, the Joe Policastro Trio, the Chris Greene Quartet and the Chicago Soul Jazz Collective The Venue is pleased to present a Jazz in the Park Festival featuring DOSH at 5pm, Joe Policastro Trio at 6:15, Chris Greene Quartet at 7:30 and Chicago Soul Jazz Collective at 9PM, Saturday, July 10. Doors open 4pm. This event is sponsored by Aurora Downtown and the City of Aurora along with media sponsor, WDCB. ABOUT THE ARTISTS DOSH - Call him a one-man band, a virtuoso, a gifted collaborator or a family man, Martin, Marty, Dosh or Dad, Minneapolis avant-rock luminary Martin Dosh is lauded by fellow musicians for his astounding solo, multi-instrumental abilities, mashing together elements of jazz, electro, hip-hop, minimalism, and ambient. Joe Policastro Trio Their unique blend of jazz has an acoustic aesthetic. Featuring Dave Miller on guitar, Mikel Avery on drums with leader Joe Policastro on bass, this alternative jazz trio puts its spin on anything it touches. Their last release, Nothing Belongs Here, blends original tunes as well as bold reconstructions of covers. Chris Greene Quartet is lead by saxophonist Chris Greene. The quartet grounds itself with jazz but incorporates elements of funk, hip-hop, reggae reflecting their deep and rich musical backgrounds. The band has been on the Chicago jazz scene since 2005 and has 8 released titles under their name. In addition to Chris, the band features Damian Espinosa on keyboards, Marc Piane on bass and drummer Steve Corley. Chicago Soul Jazz Collective In 2017, The Chicago Soul Jazz Collective began paying tribute to old soul jazz records and quickly realized their was more their for them to uncover. Adding original compositions by saxophonist John Fournier, this ensemble not only pays tribute to the great recordings from the past but pushes forward with new music. The ensemble’s goal is always to send ‘everybody home in a better place’ and with its music and energy it does just that. At The Venue, we book nationally-recognized talent in all genres of music from blues and big band, to rock and world music, and everything in between. Frequently, our opening acts feature regional and local musicians and songwriters. Our listening room seats 200 with no obstructed views, and our outdoor stage area can fit several hundred festival fans. The Venue is operated by the Fox Valley Music Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to music education, promotion and preservation.
