Make your very own bandanas while learning two surface pattern creation techniques and a bit about indigo dyeing as well!
For this workshop we’ll be creating a full size and triangle half cotton bandanas while learning both the Katazome (rice paste & stencil) and Shibori (binding & folding) techniques for creating patterns on our pieces. We’ll then dip them in our natural indigo dye vat and learn about the indigo process as well. You’ll dye your own pieces so be sure to wear clothing you wouldn't mind if you got a little indigo on. This workshop is $60/per person.
All levels of experience are welcome—hand dyeing is a fun and curious process, so all you need is a willingness to experiment. All supplies for the workshop will be provided. Min age: 12
This workshop is approx 2.5 hours — we will learn the methods, dip the pieces, wash them in house (during that you will have about a 30 min break) and then you’ll leave with your finished pieces ready to use (after they dry).
