Description
Is it you?
Me: Experienced vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist string player. I've written lots of original material that I mostly play out solo, but have also adapted to duo, trio, and 4-part a capella. :) I love music with rich and integral harmonies or multiple lead singers, vocal forward, and surprising chord structures. Blending emotional depth with levity. Someone once pointed out that my preferred sound is soft and discordant (I can make you weep with my ukulele). I also have a soft spot for modern adaptations of trad folk songs and poetry. Here's a range of some music I love: Wild Child, Sylvan Esso, Leyla McCalla, Lobo Marino, Civil Wars, First Aid Kit, Adrienne Lenker, Jeremy Messersmith.
You: Confident instrumentalist (maybe it's trombone? cello? bass? violin? accordion? beats? piano? something else?) and you're not afraid to hop in and harmonize (or even lead!). Not afraid to bring your own element to every song, co-arrange existing tunes, or possibly co-write new ones together. I can hand you a chord sheet and tell you basic things to play, but I'm way more interested in your original ideas than in how well you can follow along.
Intentions: Let's groove and form an awesome musical connection. I'm talking have a beer (or tea) and jam, I'm talking let's get into it, I'm talking let's make something that's so great we can't help but share it out. I love busking, I love gigging. I like playing in Asheville, I like traveling. I love house shows, I love making videos. I'm really looking for someone who is ready to go in on an endeavor together, yet flexible about what shape said endeavor may take.
Send me an email with 3-5 of your favorite indie-folk-ish bands, and a little more about you! I'd love to see a recent video, or hear a recent sample of what you're like (I don't care if it's on spotify or a phone recording from your kitchen!)
Dear Indie Folk Soulmate, I can't wait to meet you!
