PORTSMOUTH, NH — A man from Maine will be arraigned in Portsmouth District Court in August after being accused of drunken driving and fleeing the scene of a crash. Police were sent to the area of Bartlett and Cate streets around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday for a report of an accident. When police arrived, they found an empty car that was damaged. "The vehicle was found to be unoccupied and information developed indicated someone had fled from the vehicle prior to police arrival," Sgt. Seth Tondreault of the Portsmouth Police Department said. A K-9 unit, "Axe," was called in, along with additional officers, who all tried to find the driver. According to police, Jonathan Hussey, 31, of South Berwick, Maine, was found later on the property of Ricci Lumber on Bartlett Street. He was arrested on driving while intoxicated, conduct after an accident, and criminal trespass charges. Hussey was transported by Portsmouth EMTs to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment and is due in district court on Aug. 9. This case is still under investigation, and anyone who witnessed the accident, or has relevant information, is urged to contact the investigating officer, Officer Will Mahoney, at 603-610-7548.
