Press release from the West Islip School District: June 12, 2021 Students at West Islip's Beach Street and Udall Road middle schools recentlyparticipated in Poetry Picnics to celebrate National Poetry Month, exploring their creativityby writing poetry outdoors. At Beach Street, students went outside with librarian Lisa Cosgrove, writing varioustypes of poems as they sat on blankets and enjoyed snacks. During ELA classes at Udall, librarian Denise Lamattina invited students to thelibrary courtyard. Students drew on their prior experiences and applied their reflectiveabilities to create and share artistic poems. This press release was produced by the West Islip School District.
