Press release from the Atlanta Police Department: 06/11/2021 On May 31, 2021, Zone 2 officers were on the lookout for slider crime activity when they stopped to observe the QT Parking lot at 761 Sidney Marcus Boulevard. They quickly noticed two males walking around the parking lot and realized the pair was closely watching vehicles as they parked. The officers watched the pair for an extended period of time and saw them walking to and from the parking lot, in between fuel pumps, around parked cars and looking into at least one parked vehicle. Officers approached the two and began speaking with them. As they talked, an officer noticed one of the males, 19-year-old Cedric Woods, was carrying a concealed handgun. When Mr. Woods saw the officer looking toward the weapon, he fled on foot. Officers pursued him and took him into custody nearby. Officers located the handgun and determined it was loaded and had been stolen during a recent vehicle theft on Peachtree Road in Zone 5. Officers also recovered three credit cards and a social security card which had been stolen during vehicle thefts or thefts from vehicles. Mr. Woods was found to be a convicted felon and was charged with Loitering or Prowling, Obstruction, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Financial Transaction Card Theft and taken to the Fulton County Jail. Officers passed on the information of Mr. Woods' arrest to those investigating the theft cases and additional charges are possible. The second male was not charged and was released from the scene.
