Summary of Opportunity If you like to stay busy, keep moving, have experience with cleaning chemicals and supplies, possess integrity and have a desire to stay with a company for a long time, this is the place for you! We are looking for a superstar, get the job done, experienced janitor or cleaner who is able to work independently and as a team. The candidate should be in good physical shape. There are 28 suites plus common areas on each of the three floors that need to be cleaned nightly. This will keep you in shape! Janitorial Duties include but are not limited to: • Clean, sweep, vacuum, and mop floors thoroughly • Clean, dust, and sanitize countertops of individual office suites (28 suites and common areas) • Take out trash throughout the entire building, separating out recyclables • Clean/Sanitize the restrooms • Stock and distribute toilet paper, hand soap, and hand towels • Keep track of stock • Stock, clean and organize janitorial closets • Wash cleaning towels, mop heads, etc., using our onsite washer and dryer General Expectations • Hours are typically from 5:30-11:00 PM, M, T, Th, F. • Hours are flexible, in the sense that work days can be limited to 1, 2, 3 or 4 days per week and hours per night can also be less. • On-call availability (of course advanced notice is generally given) • Certain Holidays are off, such as New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving • Follow directions carefully • Communicate quickly and clearly, preferably in English • Respond to text messages and phone calls when needed • Report and solve problems Compensation Starting at $16 per hour. Notes about Compensation Assuming that you will work as our employee, we will pay your workers’ compensation insurance, social security, and other employment fees, and offer benefits like 401(k). These additional employee-related expenses cost us about 12% above and beyond the wage that you are paid. We pay twice a month. So if you are paid $15.50/hour, you cost us $17.36/hour. Your take-home pay will likely be less than $15.50/hour as you will pay income taxes as well as your half of your social security and other payroll expenses, as the law requires. Other Notes - We do not pay workers "under the table" or "cash" - You can expect that this hourly wage will apply until the trial period is over, after which your work performance and reliability will be reviewed and an pay increase will be discussed. - We pay workers on an hourly basis, not on a "project basis" - Please do not apply to this ad if you will likely quit, ask for a raise in a few weeks or months or come to the interview expecting more money or hours - We hope that our work relationship lasts for years Employee or Contractor? If hired, you will become a part-time employee unless you satisfy the legal requirements of becoming an independent contractor (such as a trade license, your own worker's compensation insurance, your tools, etc.). Because the State of California has become more rigorous with regard to independent contractors, we are always "by the book" and hire and pay people according to the law.
