Why Transgenderism Is Mental Illness

I was reading an article earlier today about some posters being put up in the New York subway system; the posters ended with a threat, that if you did not defer to transgender peoples' right to be transgender, that your pronouns would be past tense. There was a storm of responses on Twitter. One caught my eye: a woman who said, in essence, that a 'cis woman' was an oxymoronic term. She suggested that you were either a woman, or trans. There was no 'cis woman'. A long time ago, homosexuality was considered a mental illness. That became unpopular in the anything-goes 60s, and so the medical establishment backed away from that, but I think that was a mistake. The reason we call these things "illnesses", even though they are sometimes entirely conceptual - 'emotional illness', 'mental illness', for example - is because they are communicable. Consider anger. Is anger communicable? Yes. Are there countermeasures you can take to avoid getting angry? Yes. Do they work 100% of the time? No. Could this be considered a public health matter? Yes. Is anyone working on this public health matter? No - we're too busy trying to get everyone angry at China, and Russia. Does this mean that the United States is in the grip of an epidemic of mental illness? Yes, probably. Is anger the only communicable mental illness that we are being threatened by? No. Which brings us to homosexuality. In order to make sense of public policy I am forced to look at previous societies that dealt with homosexuality, to see what we can learn from their experiences and from the records that they left behind. We start with the word, 'tautology', which means, 'a self-evident truth'. The assumption here is that we start by identifying what we all agree upon, that this will help us to sharpen our understanding of where we disagree. According to Wikipedia, "In its formal representation, the law of identity is written 'a = a' or 'For all x: x = x', where a or x refer to a term [...]." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_Identity) Or, as Plato articulated it: Socrates: With regard to sound and colour, in the first place, do you think this about both: do they exist? Theaetetus: Yes. Socrates: Then do you think that each differs to the other, and is identical to itself? Theaetetus: Certainly. Socrates: And that both are two and each of them one? Theaetetus: Yes, that too. We could rewrite this dialog, thusly: Socrates: With regard to Man and Woman, in the first place, do you think this about both: do they exist? Theaetetus: Yes. Socrates: Then do you think that each differs to the other, and is identical to itself? Theaetetus: Certainly. Socrates: And that both are two and each of them one? Theaetetus: Yes, that too. ... and this would state the problem, succinctly. So what is 'transgender'? In order to understand what 'transgender' means to the people who invented and use the word, perhaps it would help to analyze the word etymologically. 'Transgender' is a compound word, composed of 'trans' and 'gender'. 'Gender' refers to 'man' and 'woman' - if there were no differences there would be no need for the word 'gender', which describes a class of phenomena which relate to this difference. But what does 'trans' mean? To some people, 'trans' is used to indicate a LATERAL movement. They are 'transitioning'. They are in movement. Clearly, there is some sort of destination. The destination would appear to be the opposite polarity. We can talk about spectrums all day, but the fundamental physical reality is one of dual polarity. To others, 'trans' is used to indicate a VERTICAL movement. They are BEYOND gender - or, that is the party line. They have TRANSCENDED gender and have achieved GENDER FLUIDITY. Of course, fluidity is not transcendence, that's just a pickup line. And so the philosophy can be seen to be mere sophistry and word games, concealing the confusion and vulnerability, beneath. Most of those I have encountered who identify as transgender seem to be insanely angry young men who spent all their free time being influenced by women and insulated from masculine perspectives. Their hair is fabulous, and so are their nails, but they are fags, and they know it. They have no idea how to relate to women, sexually, and most of them hate their mothers for allowing them to grow up this way and for cutting them off from their father. Their anger against older women - so-called 'TERF's - is really anger towards their mothers, and themselves. All this anger, as I mentioned above, is poisoning society. To complicate the matter, my sense is that many in the 'trans' community use the term without any clear sense as to which kind of 'trans' movement their identity embodies - transportation, or transcendence - and even as a way to further confuse the issue, to better conceal their own confusion. They don't know what they are, and they don't want YOU to know what they are, either. In this sense, many in the 'trans' community, use the word 'trans', much as Jews use the word 'Jewish', not to refine one's understanding of the issue, but to blunt and confuse one's understanding. This may be related to the fact that most of those claiming to be in need of special treatment, because of their 'trans' nature, are also Jews, accustomed to receiving special treatment because of their 'Jewish' nature. I'm not sure what the solution is. More classical education would help. Understanding the meanings of words and not just how they make us feel, is fundamental to avoiding being hoodwinked, by fast-talking politicians and salesmen. Celebrating mental illness and turning it into a public virtue is downright Satanic. I'm honestly surprised there is not a branch of the Church of Satan somewhere in the vicinity of Castro and Market Street.
