Just about 360,000 Union soldiers died in the Civil War, without their sacrifice and ultimate victory no one knows how many decades Slavery would have lasted as well as a divided America. Think about it, 360,000 brave souls gave their lives to free 3 million Black slaves and preserve the United States. Back then Democrats put their own greed for profit ahead of the sanctity of Black's right to be free and determine their own destiny rather than remain Democrat's chattel. Taking into account these facts, if any reparations are agreed to it's the Democratic Party that has to be held accountable to pay it, Republicans and their Union soldiers paid whatever their role in the matter with their blood and treasure. If you're a Democrat and believe in equity tell your party to pay their fair share, Republicans have. Were your ancestors dragged here unwittingly or did they choose to come to America and abide by her constitution and laws....one of which guarantees reparations for crimes? I don't want to pay taxes to clean up environmental messes caused by money grabbing, non taxpaying corporations, but someone's gotta pay. Actually, any reparations to ancestors of slaves should be paid for by the old confederate states. My ancestors fought for the Union.....they already paid their dues.
