I would tend to go with the statement: "we should learn from our history, not to repeat it"
Yes capitalism was a factor in slavery, but not ALL whites or ONLY whites owned slaves. Blacks owned black slaves as early as 1654 in Virginia.
Historian, John Hope Franklin, states this clearly: "The majority of Negro owners of slaves had some personal interest in their property." But, he admits, "There were instances, however, in which free Negroes had a real economic interest in the institution of slavery and held slaves in order to improve their economic status."
WHY THEN is "slavery" the SIN of the white man. YES, whites owned more slaves than blacks, but should this be the qualifying value of a sin or evil, the number ? Approx. 13,000 blacks owned by blacks as compared to 2,009,043 by whites.
SLAVERY still exists in the world today in many countries today such as Mali and Mauritania.
There is daily use of sex slaves in many areas of the world. The FBI reports the numbers in the millions. There is daily human trafficking across our own southern border in the hundreds of thousands.
MY POINT: Let's not vilify the white man as the "superior oppressor of blacks". HE IS NOT
He is only that if THAT is your agenda. IF that being the case, then REALITY states that the black man is the " superior murderer of other blacks"
