Description
Donation-based yoga class celebrating Juneteenth, 100% of proceeds given to Assata's Daughters Yoga teaches us the importance of pausing, being still, becoming more aware of self, and connecting with the life force within us all: breath. Let's pause and reflect on how far we've come, and how much further we have to go. Let's sit in stillness and meditate on how we can come together to effect change. Let's push ourselves to become more aware of our own minds and how the way we think is projected into the world. Let's take a moment to take a collective breath, in remembrance of the innocent lives that were unjustly taken. Let's move with purpose, and for a purpose. Join us Saturday, June 19th OR Sunday, June 20th for LiteralUnwine's 2nd Annual Juneteenth Flow. Class attendance is free, however if you'd like to make a donation, all proceeds will be given to Assata's Daughters (see more details below). All experience levels are welcome. However, with minimal Union troop presence in Texas, the new proclamation was not initially enforced. It wasn't until nearly two and a half years later on June 19, 1865, that the Texan Confederate army was overthrown and all slaves were freed. Assata's Daughters: Formed in 2015 as a volunteer-based collective to address the shortage of programming for young Black women in Chicago, Assata's Daughters has expanded its scope to include programming for young Black men.
