The Going, Going, Gone! series of tours continues, featuring this beautiful Minnetonka home designed in 1970 by architect Arthur Dickey. In-Person, Members Only Event! Thursday, June 24, 2021. Two time slots available: 5pm and 6pm. Space is limited and registration is required! The original owner of this mid-century home is preparing to sell the property for the first time since it was built, and Docomomo US/MN members can take a sneak peek! Virtually unchanged and meticulously cared for, stepping into this home is like stepping back in time. Designed with three modules in an L-shaped configuration, the home features a two story atrium that connects the living/dining areas with the bedroom/bathroom module. Family and living room areas are separated by a copper and brick fireplace, and flooded with daylight through large clerestory windows. The third module contains and oversized garage and storage areas. The lower level features an indoor pool, sauna and large recreation room! Docomomo US/MN members can bring one guest for the time slot that they are attending. Maximum of two tickets per registration. Please include name and email for everyone in your party. Please note that all tour attendees must have a printed or electronic EventBrite ticket in their name. For the comfort and safety of all tour attendees, face masks must be worn indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Please park on-street and pay close attention to area parking restrictions! DOCOMOMO US is the working party in the United States of the international organization, DOCOMOMO. The name is an acronym for the DOcumentation and COnservation of buildings, sites, and neighborhoods of the MOdern MOvement. The group promotes the study, interpretation, and protection of the architecture, landscape, and urban design of the Modern Movement. DOCOMOMO US is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization that promotes public interest in Modernism through lectures and tours, and organize advocacy efforts to protect endangered sites and buildings. The Minnesota Chapter was founded in 2010.
