Press release from Pelham Public Schools: June 12, 2021 Congratulations to juniors Jack Anderson, Mark Tarazi, and Stephen Liaskos who won 1st placein the Senior Division, Group Website category of the New York State National History Daycompetition and sophomore Julia Meyerson who won Outstanding Entry in Native American orEthnic History for her individual documentary titled "Navajo Code Talkers: The Impact ofUnbreakable Communication." Anderson, Tarazi and Liaskos, whose project is titled "Television's Role in the Civil RightsMovement: Shedding Light on Unseen Problems and Causing Social Change," now advance tothe National History Day Competition where they will compete against their peers from acrossthe U.S. Each year, PMHS students compete in National History Day, conducting research andformulating projects in a variety of mediums, including individual or group documentaries,historical papers, exhibits, websites, and more. The annual competition focuses on a centraltheme, which this year was: "Communication in History: The key to understanding." Studentsfirst submit their projects to a regional competition with winners advancing to the statecompetition. Learn more about National History Day.
