Tour of Union Station
The Chicago-Midwest ICAA invites you to join us for our first in-person member event of 2021! Len Koroski of Goettsch Partners will lead our group on a tour of their 2020 Acanthus Award of Arete Winning Project - Chicago's Union Station. The recent rehabilitation of Union Station encompasses a 10-year stewardship and preservation effort. A series of carefullyplanned projects over this period include the replacement of thefamous marble staircases leading from the Great Hall, renovationand expansion of Amtrak’s first-class lounge, the restorationof the former Women’s Lounge as the new Burlington Room, special events space, and many other functional and technicalimprovements to make the station viable today. The culminationof this long-term stewardship effort is the restoration of thesoaring 78,000-square-foot Great Hall—one of the nation’s mosticonic and memorable public spaces—and its 18,000-square-footvaulted skylight.
