FALMOUTH, MA — A 16-year-old girl escaped an attempted abduction Friday night in Falmouth, the police said Saturday. Around 10:30 p.m. Friday, the victim was walking home from her job in downtown Falmouth when a black SUV began to follow her on Shore Street, the police said. The driver pulled up and asked if she wanted a ride home. The girl declined and walked away. "As she was walking along Clinton Avenue she then heard a car door close, she turned around and the operator of the SUV attempted to pull her towards his SUV," the police said. "The female was able to break free and ran home." The driver was a 40- to 50-year-old white man, around six feet tall, overweight, with a deep voice, a black shirt, dark pants and short or balding hair, the police said. He was driving a black SUV that made a "squeaking" noise. Falmouth police are seeking more information on the incident, as well as any surveillance video from Shore Street or Clinton Avenue around the time of the incident. The department can be reached at 774-255-4527.
