ORANGE, CT — An Orange man is charged with witness intimidation following an incident in which gunshots were fired at an occupied home in town earlier this month, according to police. In a news release, Police Lt. Ray LaPlante said multiple gunshots were fired from a vehicle at an Old Tavern Road home around 11:30 p.m. on June 3, during which the occupied home and multiple vehicles in its driveway were struck with bullets. Although the residents were home at the time of the incident, no injuries were reported, LaPlante said. After further investigation, police determined the vehicle from which the shots were fired was a 2004 Hummer H2 registered to Christopher Barretta, 47, of Orange, LaPlante said. "The victim in this shooting incident had also been the victim of a theft in 2020, for which Christopher Barretta was arrested," LaPlante said in a news release. "That court case, along with five other criminal cases involving Barretta, is pending in Milford Superior Court." LaPlante said officers also seized the Hummer and executed a search warrant, during which evidence was recovered. Barretta was arrested on a warrant Thursday. He was charged with witness intimidation and held on a $750,000 bond, which he was unable to post. According to LaPlante, more charges and additional arrests are possible.
