TOMS RIVER, NJ — A motor vehicle crash that brought down a traffic signal has closed all but one lane of the Route 37 bridges between Toms River and Seaside Heights on Friday night, state officials said.
The crash brought down a traffic signal near the east base of the J. Stanley Tunney Bridge that carries westbound traffic back to Toms River. All of the westbound lanes were closed, according to the state Department of Transportation website 511nj.org.
The downed signal also was affecting eastbound traffic coming across the Thomas Mathis Bridge. Traffic into Seaside Heights had been reduced to one lane, state officials said.
The 511nj.org report said the crash included injuries but details on the injuries were not immediately available.
Traffic was delayed at least 15 minutes getting into Seaside Heights, according to the state DOT.
