TUCSON, AZ — The suspect in a deadly shooting in a Circle K parking lot Friday afternoon, called 911 to turn himself in not long after the incident, Tucson police said. With the assistance of the Tucson Police Department's SWAT team, Lazaro Enrique Villa, 26, was taken into custody. He was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was booked into the Pima County Jail, police said. Just before 4:30 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Circle K gas station at 1555 W. Valencia Road. When they arrived, they found a gunshot victim in the parking lot. Lazaro Enrique Villa, 26, was charged with first degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. (Tucson Police Department) Officers treated the victim, identified as 50-year-old Jaime Tadeo-Avila, until the Tucson Fire Department arrived and took over. Despite their efforts, Tadeo-Avilo was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. During their investigation, detectives from the Homicide Unit learned that Villa was parked outside the gas station as Tadeo-Avila was driving through the parking lot. There was a lot of traffic in the lot, which caused them to nearly crash, police said. After this near-collision, Villa parked next to Tadeo-Avila and fired a gun multiple times, hitting him. Tadeo-Avila's son was in the vehicle with him and suffered minor injuries in the shooting. He was brought to the University Medical Center for treatment, police said.
