If you are missing a pet anywhere in the Metro area please check at the KCMO shelter as soon as possible (either in person or online). There are so many good family pets that are sitting at the Shelter just waiting for their owners to find them. The Shelter holds an animal for 5 days to give an owner a chance to locate before being making it available for adoption so file a Lost Report with photo and see pictures of Found Animals on their website: https://www.kcpetproject.org/services/view-lost-and-found-pets. It is likely that several of these dogs would not be there if their owners had them microchipped. You can bring your pet in to the Shelter between 9-6 (9-5 on Sun) for a microchip-no appointment required. It only costs $25 dollars and takes 30 seconds and the Shelter will register it for you. Countless pets have been reunited with their families because of a microchip. And if your pet is microchipped, make sure the contact information on the microchip is correct. If you have your microchip number can always create an account and register the microchip for free on the Found Animals website: https://www.found.org Most people whose pet goes missing always wish they would have had the pet microchipped.
